Still, the error message bothered me, so I fixed it by using the solution proposed <a href=\"https:\/\/bugs.launchpad.net\/ubuntu\/+source\/linux\/+bug\/1633839\/comments\/21\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In my case the Linux drive is <strong>sda<\/strong>, so I ran the following commands:<\/p>\n<pre lang=\"bash\">\r\ngrub-install \/dev\/sda\r\nupdate-grub\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>and all was good again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the upgrade from Jessie to Stretch, GRUB started throwing the following error: error: no symbol table. &#8230; Press any key to continue&#8230; If I pressed any key or didn&#8217;t press anything at all, system would boot normally after a few seconds.
